Empty Bar Stools, Fuller Hearts.
Kat’s shaking drinks from above the city lights and under the vibrant glow the tiki shack at @brokenshaker . Los Angeles, a city that runs off food and beverage and has a tight family of bartenders was hit hard from this pandemic. I sat and had a drink with her to ask how has the bar community been there for her during this time of hardship.
“When we all lost our jobs in the hospitality industry, it felt like I lost my home at the same time. When this all went down I let fear get the best of me but I soon realized the industry we have spent giving our blood, sweat, and tears in was giving us everything back and more. Brings me hope and feeds my soul to see how much the brands and bar community have been supporting us. Social media has brought us closer together where we have been able to give each other support through continued education online, kindness and love through words or video chats, free warm meals, care packages, grants, I mean the list goes on and on.
Bar stools sit empty , but my heart is so full of love for the hospitality industry it is beyond words. I encourage everyone to continue supporting your local businesses and showing kindness all around during this dystopian reality. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. ” - @katya_mik_
